Listen Closely

"Did we lose him?" she asked panting. She stepped out into the street more and also looked around, upon seeing nothing with her eyes, she pulled a gun scope from her pocket. " You should start checking buildings around here." she said as she held the scope up to her eyes and began scanning the more far away areas where he might be hiding in a small group of people, or on the roof of a building.

Hei looked at her for a short time, before a sudden voice rang out behind her.

"No offense, but..." said the voice. "You shouldn't be involved in this." When Bayle looked up, she saw only the cat, which seemed to be almost... smiling at her?! "You'd better go home," the cat said, before leaping off behind the wall and out of sight.

When she turned back, Hei was gone. She now stood alone in the middle of the street.

The cat talked. Perhaps it was a side effect of the invasion to her brain? Maybe the mask guy was a ventriliquist. Whatever had happened she didn't have time to think about it. She had to find that contractor. However another scan with her scope told her the search was useless. If he wasn't within sight of that, then she would never find him on foot. She walked back to her motorcycle in a huff. Not only had the cat talked, but it had been pretty arrogant. Even if she shouldn't be involved, she was anyway and there wasn't much that could be done now. She finally reached her motorcycle and was about to go home, before she realized there was still a dead man at the construction site. She whipped out her phone and called the police. Hopefully she could get ahold of Kurasawa's friend.

A police officer answered the phone, but it was not Guy's friend. "This is the police. How can I help you?"

She asked for the officer she had spoken to with Guy, but he wasn't there. "Sorry, it's just easier to talk to someone you're already familiar with." she replied to the officer. " At any rate, there's been another suicide."

"There has?! What's the address, ma'am? We'll send a car over right away."

She gave them the address of the construction site and her name, and told him she would meet the car there and that she would be riding a black motorcycle. She hung up and quickly rode to the construction site, waiting for the police to arrive.

Three police cars and an ambulance soon arrived at the construction site, and when an officer stepped out of the car, she recognized him as the same officer that had talked to her. When he saw her, his eyes narrowed slightly, and he stepped up to her seeming a little more imposing than usual.

"So, we meet again."

She understood why he would be suspicious, and therefore it didn't bother her. "Yes, yes we do. How are you doing?" she asked extending a hand for shaking.

He didn't shake the extended hand. In fact, his face only seemed to become more grave. "I'm doing well. Naturally, you're going to have to come with us again. I'm afraid it's much more serious this time."

" I understand, " she said bowing her head slightly. She turned on the alarm to her motorcycle and slid into the back of the police car.
